Council closes facilities and cancels events due to COVID-19
Many of Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s public facilities will be closed and events will be cancelled or postponed as a preventative measure following the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said Council was taking a proactive approach in order to protect the health and wellbeing of the community, especially elderly and vulnerable people.
From tomorrow, Tuesday 17 March, all aquatic and leisure facilities will be closed for at least one month, these include:
- Kyneton Toyota Sports & Aquatic Centre
- Gisborne Aquatic Centre
- Gisborne Fitness Centre
- All leisure centres/stadiums in all townships
Residents who have memberships, programs or passes at these facilities or centres will be contacted directly regarding future arrangements.
Council is following state and federal government advice by minimising large public gatherings, dispensing with non-essential meetings and events, and encouraging social distancing.
