Hello ALL!
Jeremy Shiell here, your new president, and firstly I’d like to thank George Hennessey and all the office bearers and committee members over the past couple of very trying years for everyone. Lots of administration and lots of dealing with constantly shifting rules and regulations, which must have been very frustrating. Thank you also to everyone who has put their hands up to take on a role with the club at the recent AGM, to Sam, Damien, Daryl and the new committee members too.
COVID has obviously taken a big, big, bite out many, many community sports and participation in general – and of course the club is no exception and has seen a dip in participation in 2022, so I’d ask each and every member to reach out to everyone they know, friends, family, workmates and acquaintances, push squash along in your social media (a great way to flush out people who played years ago!), mention you play, mention there’s a comp two days a week in Kyneton, social hits in Romsey on a Tuesday and see if we can garner new members.
Just anecdotally, I reckon there’s a fair number of latent or lapsed or keen-to-try squash players out there in our local community and as we all know, it is the greatest game of all!
To all former members who are out there, I’d encourage you to come pick up the racquet and come back to the club, and get involved!
Going forward we’d like to have all courts in use for prospective players to come and have a hit, and join up.
And finally, a clip here of a rally a couple of years ago between Gary and George, enjoy!
